SAVANNAH, Mo. Charles E. Dye, 74, Savannah, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 1991, a health-care center in St. Joseph.
Born in Sheridan, Mo., Mr. Dye had lived in Savannah since 1949. He had been a resident of the care center since July.
He retired as a switchman for the Burlington Railroad. He graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph. Mr. Dye was a member of the Missouri Valley Gem and Mineral Society; Hiawatha, Kan., Gem and Mineral Club; Burlington Veterans Association and Pony Express Beagle Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1982; a son, Duane; and a sister, Anna M. Walker.
Surviving: two sons, Victor G. of Crosby, Texas, and Darrell D. of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Margaret A. Hart of Wathena, Kan.; four brothers, Donald and Dennis, both of Omaha, Neb., Roger of Valley, Neb., and George of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Vera Sproat and Marie Brant, both of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service: 3 p.m. Sunday, Clark- Sampson Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Flag Springs, Mo., Cemetery. Visitation: after 6 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
