| 1304 | Nadine Bernice Myers, lovingly known by many names— Mom, Grandma, Granny, Other-Grandma, and Madine— passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 8, 2025, at the age of 95. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Nadine leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity that will continue to guide her family for generations to come. Born on June 13, 1930, in Chamois, Missouri, Nadine grew up with a heart full of faith and an unshakable work ethic. After completing her education through the 10th grade, she worked raising Hereford cattle, farming, working in the fields and enjoyed running a bulldozer with her first husband, Bill Wibberg. Later, she began what would become a 32-year career at the State Hospital. She started as a Psychiatric Aide and eventually moved to the Drug and Alcohol Unit, where she thrived. Through her dedication and compassion, Nadine touched countless lives, caring deeply for those who needed understanding and kindness. In 1964, Nadine met and later married Harold B. Myers, Sr. at the State Hospital in Fulton, MO, where they both worked. They moved to St. Joseph, MO, and both continued working at the State Hospital in St. Joseph until they retired. After moving to St. Joseph with Nadine's three children, they had their own two boys. This led to their decision to move to a small farm in Cosby, MO where they could have horses, cows, pigs, chickens, motorcycles and room to play and where Nadine could have a large garden to help feed her growing family. Nadine embodied the essence of hard work, selflessness, and love. She believed firmly in sharing what she had and doing everything with a sense of pride and purpose. A wonderful cook and devoted gardener, she also found joy in recording every penny she spent— a testament to her thoughtful and meticulous nature. She never missed an opportunity to take a road trip or to watch her grandchildren engage in the activities they loved. Family meant everything to her, and she was truly the matriarch of a very large and close-knit family. A longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, Nadine's faith guided her throughout her life and inspired those around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Myers, Sr., her son Jim Myers, her parents, George and Wilhelmina Wolz, her brothers, Herb Wolz and Oscar Wolz, and her sons-in-law Gordon Bledsoe and Raymond "Ed" Payne. On being paroled, he afterwards enlisted in the 7th Kansas, but was discharged on account of being paroled and not exchanged. He married Miss Celia Cooper, soon after the war. She died in 1868. In 1872, he married Miss Elizabeth Forney, who died November 20th, 1907. | 1325 | WHITESVILLE Jan. 30. At the home of his parents in Barnard, Mo., Bruce, the little child of Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Larrabee departed this life on Thursday, January 26, aged almost two years. This is indeed a sad blow to the father and mother and gladly would we console them if we could, but words of ours are too feeble to carry consolation to their aching hearts; but though the little voice is stilled, no more pattering of little feet to be heard in that home, his life will live on in your hearts and what a sacred thought it will be to you in years to come to think of the sunshine his brief life brought to your home and to remember that he lived to love and be loved by those who will ever cherish his pure sweet memory. The little one was laid to rest in the Whitesville cemetry [sic], Friday afternoon, by the side of his little sister, of whom the sad parents were bereft several years ago. His voice on earth you will hear no more, But he will call to you from above, You will hear his voice and better be Because of your darling's love. CLEOPATRA. | LARRABEE, Bruce (I16606)
