    • Obituary.

      The lamented death of Mrs. Laura Elkins Hiatt occurred last Sunday, February 5th. 1905, at the family homestead near Lockwood. Mrs. Hiatt had been ill several weeks suffering from lagrippe and weakness incident to age.

      Funeral services were conducted at the home on Monday by Rev. T. N. Tabor, attended by the sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends and neighbors.  The interment was at the Lockwood cemetery

      Mrs. Hiatt was born in the year 1830 and therefore had reached the age nearly of 75 years. She was Miss Laura Ann Elkins and was married to Mr. J. J. Hiatt in 1848, in Platte County. Mo., whence they came to the present family home in 1867. Mr. Hiatt preceded her to the grave about two years ago.  They lived the life of real happiness, that results from prosperity, contentment, health, the presence of their children and many friends.

      Mrs. Hiatt although not a member of any church, manifested through life the hope, the faith, the character that adorns the true Christian, and her removal from this world will be to a better one where happiness will be complete and eternal.

      There are five children of Mr. and Mrs. Hiatt living. They are Mrs. J. A. Roseman, Mrs. J. H. Harris, residing in this vicinity and Don W. Hiatt residing in Oregon and Mrs. Henry Taylor residing in Wyoming.
