Mildred I. Staudenmaier, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away on Jan. 15, 2009, at the local hospital. Mildred was born on Sept. 24, 1920, in Wathena, Kan., to Oscar and Agnes Benitz. Mildred graduated from Troy High School in 1938. She worked at Lebowitz as an alteration specialist, retiring in 1990. She was also involved with the family dairy farm operation. In addition, she taught several years in a one-room school house in rural Kansas. Mildred was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society, Extension Clubs and was a 4-H leader . . .
