Caroline Davis was born March 4, 1842 and died Friday, February 1, 1929, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 26 days. She was the daughter of James and Nancy Dennis who passed away a number of years ago. On June 20 1863, she married Joseph Davis, deceased, in the state of Indiana but moved to Missouri a few years later where Mr. and Mrs. Davis made their home until death. To the home came seven children, five of whom are living. Mrs. Davis was converted during a revival meeting, and joined the Fish Creek Church at the age of 17 and remained true to the faith. She was a devoted wife and mother and those who knew her best say that she was a friend to all, always ready and willing to give of her time and service to those in need. The surviving children: James Albert of Gilliam; Mrs. Minnie Downey of Michigan; Mrs. Nancy Mayfield, Mrs. Dollie Wilson, and Mrs. Lucy Cott of the immediate vicinity. There are also 36 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of friends by whom she will be long remembered and mourned.
