Joseph Davis died suddenly at the home of his son-in-law, Barney Cott three miles north of Little Rock, Friday evening Dec. 18, at 10:00 p.m., aged 69 years 8 months. He had been ailing for sometime but was feeling better that day and went with his wife to vist their daughter. That night he was suddenly stricken with heart failure and died at once. He is survived by his wife and seven children Mrs. Minnie Downdy, of Michigan; Mrs. Barney (Lucy) Cott, Mrs. Ike (Leota) Thornton, Mrs. John (Dollie) Wilson, Mrs. Matt (Nancy) Mayfield, James Albert Davis, Will Davis, all of the same vicinity. Mr. Davis was a splendid citizen and fine man. His funeral services were held Sunday at the Dunkard Church near by, conducted by Rev. Cruea. His nature was that of a kind hearted, sympathetic, consistant christian and so in the end. He was perfectly resigned to the fate that awaits us all. His life has been a blessing to the community in which he lives and his death is mourned by a wide circle of friends and relatives. We extend sympathy to the bereaved.
