GROVE, Okla. - Col. Marvin ‘Wayne’ Dyer, former Vice Commander of the 139th tactical airlift wing, passed away on June 23, 2013 in Grove. He was 77 years old. Col. Dyer was born on September 7, 1935 in Forbes, Mo., to Ralph (Bud) and Hester Dyer. He was raised on the family farm and attended Forbes grade school, and graduated from Oregon, Mo. High School in 1953. Wayne moved to St. Joseph, and in 1955, he joined the Missouri Air National Guard. He became a full time employee in December of 1956 . . .
