Leroy Deatherage, 86, Independence, died January 12, 1999. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Friday, January 15 at George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel; burial in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Friends may call 6:30-8 P.M. Thursday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Independence or American Cancer Society.
Mr. Deatherage was born March 29, 1912, in Agency, MO. He retired as a plumber with the Plumbers Union Local #8. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Fay Deatherage, of the home; daughter, Sherry Morrison, Independence, Mo; son Carl Deatherage, Westwood, KS; brother, Eugene Deatherage, Odessa, MO; two sisters, Bernice King of Pennsylvania and Louise Vale of Florida; and two grandchildren.
