Pohl, Lydia M. (1921-2009)

WATHENA, Kan. - Lydia M. (Schultz) Pohl, 87, of Wathena passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at the Highland Healthcare Center.

Lydia was born on September 13, 1921, in Wathena to Otto and Letha (Dinning) Schultz.

Lydia was a member of the Zion United Evangelical Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Larkettes, all of Wathena. She worked and retired from Meade Products in St. Joseph and was a member of the 25 year club.

Lydia married Oscar Pohl on May 20, 1938, in Lexington, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1997.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Stanley Pohl on March 7, 2007; sister, Anna Schultz; two brothers, Otto Richard and William Schultz.

Survivors: son, Dallas Pohl and wife, Evelyn, of Wathena; daughter-in-law, Marian Pohl of Wathena; grandson, Dennis Pohl of Wathena; granddaughter, Blair Howell of Jefferson City, Mo.; great-granddaughter, Belle Pohl; great-grandson, Cadyn Howell; sister, Stella Goin of Wathena; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 6, at Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena. Burial: Bellemont Cemetery in Wathena. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where friends may call after noon Wednesday.

Memorials: Wathena EMS or Troy Ambulance Fund.
