Mrs. Nora Powell Holzhauser, 84, Wathena, grandmother of Robert Carnes, foreman of the mailing room at The News Press, died Thursday morning at a convalescent center, where she had been a week. Prior to being taken to the center, she was a patient at Sisters Hospital for two months.
Mrs. Holzhauser, wife of Charles Holzhauser, had lived in Wathena most of her life. She was born in Dearborn.
Survivors, in addition to her husband and grandson, include two daughters, Mrs. Charles Bear, St. Joseph and Mrs. Percy Meeks, Wathena; one brother, Quincy Grable, Wathena; three other grandsons, Merle Carnes and Robert Meeks, both of St. Joseph and LeDoit Meeks, Atchison; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 Saturday at First Baptist Church in Wathena, of which she was a member. The Rev. John Parker will officiate, and interment will be at Belmont Cemetery there. The body is at the Harman mortuary in Wathena.
