Bowen, Mary E. (1986)

Mary E. Bowen, 91, Union Star, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1986, at a St. Joseph hospital.

Born in Carroll County, Mo., she had resided in DeKalb County and Andrew County since 1917.

She and her husband, Ward Bowen, had owned and operated the Bowen Chickery at Union Star since 1918. He preceded her in death in 1968.

Mrs. Bowen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Union Star, and was a 50-year member of the G.F.W.C. Star Study Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Fletcher, Union Star; a son-in-law, Frank Fletcher, Union Star; two granddaughers; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nieces [sic].

The body is at the Clark funeral home, King City, Mo., where services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Union Star Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
