Shoat, Grace (1894-1973)

Ellsinore -- Mrs. Grace Ann Shoat, 79-year-old former Ellsinore resident, died Saturday at the St. James Hospital in Newark, N.J. She had been ill for two weeks.

A resident of Newark for the past 33 years, Mrs. Shoat lived previously in Ellsinore.

Mrs. Shoat was born Jan. 19, 1894, in Butler County. She was married to Johnson Shoat April 11, 1914. He survives.

Mrs. Shoat was a member of the St. Columbus Catholic Church in Newark. She was a member of the Grandin Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Mary Gaines, Mrs. Margaret Roam and Mrs. Neva Darby, all of Ellsinore, and Mrs. Emery Gentry, Kansas City; one son, Richard Shoat, Ellsinore; one sister, Miss Mary Lou Taylor, Irvington, N. J.; two brothers, Lawrence Taylor, Granite City, Ill., and Robert Taylor, Warren, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Pewitt-Sloan Funeral Chapel in Ellsinore. The Rev. Holderman will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Margaret Treanor Cemetery.
