Services for James R. Vaughn, 84, will be at 2:30 Thursday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden chapel. The Revs. Charles E. Powell and Franklin L. Marlin will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Military honors will be conducted by members of the Macdonald-Dugger-Duncan American Legion post. Masonic services will be presented by the Hemple Lodge.
Mr. Vaughn, a retired rural letter carrier, died Tuesday morning at a Gower nursing home. He had lived in Hemple most of his life.
Mr. Vaughn was an active Democrat, and had served as Clinton county Democratic chairman between 1973 to 1975.
He served during World War I and was a veteran of the Argonne Forest offensive in France.
Between World War I and World War II, Mr. Vaughn was a member of the Missouri army national guard 35th tank company, stationed here. He was recalled into World War II and was one of four officers who activated an army air corps training station near Albuquerque. He served at the rank of major.
