Troy Joseph Routon, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at his home in St. Joseph.
He was born March 10, 1926, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, son of Troy Joseph and Beatrice Routon.
Troy worked as a Millrite [sic] for General Motors, and was a Tow Boat Operator on the Missouri River with Pioneer Sand Co.
He was a Pentecostal and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Troy was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Routon; his parents; sisters, Verna French and Leota Robbins.
Surviving are daughter Judy Davis and husband Richard of St. Joseph; sons Richard Routon and wife Pam of Grayson, Mo., Billy Routon and wife Louise of St. Joseph, Joseph Scotton and companion Christy of Falls City, Neb.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters Wilma Nagel of St. Joseph and Carol Campbell of Neosha Rapids, Kan.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
