Welcome!
So, here’s the deal:
We like to hang out in cemeteries and we’ve taken a lot of tombstone photographs. Pretty much all of them have been, or are in the process of being, uploaded to memorials at Find A Grave.
The problem with that is, if you find a picture there that you want to “steal,” you’re supposed to ask for, and receive, permission first. Now, I know pretty much nobody does that — they just take them. But that’s how it’s supposed to work.
Also, I like to mess with stuff and didn’t have enough projects going — so we thought this would be a good one.
So, if you find a photo here that you want, you can snag it. No problem. The only caveat to that is you can’t sell them. If you want to put together a really kewl cemetery book with all these pictures in it, you’re going to have to ask permission and yes, you’re going to have to pay us. It’s a lot of work, and hosting isn’t free, either. But it’s not like that’s happening.
But if you just want to use these photos on your family tree website or for the report for your family reunion, by all means, have at it.
We aren’t trying to replace Find A Grave — why reinvent the wheel? We’re just doing things a little differently, like having all the burials on one page with the notes so you can compare relationships, etc., without going to each individual page, or paging through the listings 40 at a time. That kind of thing. I’m hoping it will also help you find people when the surnames are constantly spelled differently.
The information here is compiled from the photos we’ve taken, the death certificates we’ve been able to find (isn’t Missouri GREAT?!), obituaries, etc.
Oh — and please don’t take our photos and upload them to Find A Grave! We’ll take care of that, thank you.
Please remember! We don't consider any of these cemeteries to be "completed." There are unmarked graves, illegible markers, and some that we just don't find. Please don't assume just because you don't find the person you're looking for that they aren't there.
